Nationwide, U.S. students are struggling in math and science.
Only 40% of students in California met or exceeded the math standards in spring 2019. In addition, California alone needs 33,000 new math and science teachers over the next 10 years.
Only 39% of 11th grade students in Colorado scored at or above the math benchmark in spring 2019. Every year, Colorado comes up 3,500 teachers short of those needed in the classroom and that number is growing.
